Carlos Alberto Patiño Durán was born in Barranquilla, Colombia, in 1985. He started his musical studies in classical and jazz guitar with the professors Francisco and Mauricio Cristancho. He pursued his academic music studies at the Pontifica Universidad Javeriana, in Bogota, Colombia, university from where he graduated with mention of honor in 2013.
In 2017, Carlos graduated from his masters of music with emphasis in commercial composition from the Florida Atlantic University, in Boca Raton, Florida, where he also held a Teaching assistantship position during his two years of studies. His job has been recognized with the FAU Graduate College Scholarship award, the FAU Provost Fellowship award, and the FAU Ambassador of the Arts Scholarship award.
Carlos Patiño has been involved in the music industry working in different positions throughout his career. He is a member of a Colombian rock band called RedO'Clock, sharing the stage with renowned international bands such as Foster The People, Evanescence, Garbage, The Drums, Dead Kennedys, Molotov, Bomba Estereo, Diamante Eléctrivco, J Baldvin, among others. As a film scorer, he has worked for documentaries such as "El más veces campeón" produced by Diptongo SAS, and Millonarios Futbol Club, the most important soccer team in Bogotá, Colombia, and other documentaries and short films in Colombia, Argentina, and Spain. Also, he has worked as an assistant audio engineer, audio editor, and audio post-producer for albums such as "Pá Qué Más" by the Quinteto Leopoldo Federico, Latin Grammy nominee 2017, released by Hoot / Wisdom Recordings, "Astor Piazzolla- Legacy "by Tomas Cotik and Tao Lin, released by Naxos records 2017, nominated for the ICMA International Classical Music Awards 2018, among others. His most recent work as an author/composer/producer is titled "SOLISTAS - Instrumentos de cuerda pulsada", project that comprises soloist pieces for plucked string instruments such as the guitar, cuatro, and tiple. the pieces are gathered in a music sheet book published by the academic specialized publishing house called Editorial Javeriana in Bogota Colombia; the recording of this project has been released by Hoot/Wisdom Recordings in Boca Raton, Florida.
